What We Are About

At All Saints we believe that the ancient truths of God's Word still provide the best answers to our human needs. Our need for love, compassion, mercy, and a sense of belonging that only comes from being deeply connected to a body of believers on mission for God. What our statement “where ancient truth meets present need” means in a practical sense is that our focus at All Saints is the understanding that what we believe about the most important questions in life will shape our responses to what life brings our way.

In an episode of the sitcom, “Everybody Loves Raymond,” Ray is challenged by his wife to tackle answering their pre-teen daughter’s question about, “how we got here.” They assumed her question was a “birds and bees” question and Deborah hands Ray a stack of books on the subject to help him prepare to answer that question. But it turns out that Allie’s question was of a different sort. It was the timeless question, not just of how we got here, but why we are here at all. The central ancient truth that guides us at All Saints about why we are here is found in John's Gospel: "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.” (Joh 3:16-17 ESV)

Parents know that the “birds and bees” question will come up in due time, but the answers we really need to be able to give to our children, far more than the mechanics of procreation, are the answers to the Creation and Creator questions: “Dad, why am I here?” “Who is God?” “Why did He make me?” “Who is Jesus and why did He die?”

If those are the kinds of questions you want to be able to answer when they are asked, All Saints might be the kind of church for you. Because at All Saints we believe that the ancient truth of God's Word is still the best answer to the most important questions. We invite you to come and worship with us as we seek to build a community of Christ followers where God's people honor the Sacred, receive the Spirit, live the Word, make Disciples, and glorify God.
