Praise
The dictionary defines praise in this way:
1. an expression of approval, commendation, or admiration. 2. the extolling or exaltation of a deity, ruler, or hero.
While we live in a world that often heaps lavish praise upon celebrities or heroes, as Christians we at All Saints believe that our truest and deepest praise must be reserved for our Lord. The key to understanding the truth of this is found in one word: Exaltation. Exaltation should be reserved for God alone. Such praise is for Jesus whose shed blood has redeemed us from slavery to sin and into eternal life. Some would say that praise is a particular style of worship, some would say that praise is what we say about God, some would say praise is how we say something about God but true praise is really about knowing God as He has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ. True praise begins not with worship style but with thinking rightly about who Jesus is and where He is: Seated at the right hand of the Father. We praise Him because we know who He is and because we know where He is. Therefore our praise starts with hearts turned to God. Praise is not about how loud or what kind of songs we sing. Those are results of praise and praise is born out of the deepest part of our hearts when we are still and know that He is God.
