Worship

Worship is at the heart of the Christian faith. As a result of the importance of worship, often the emphasis discussing worship is on HOW to worship. At All Saints our primary focus is on WHY we worship. So, why do we worship? Is it because Jesus lays down his life for us? Yes. Is it because Jesus does the works of the Father? Yes. But do we worship someone because they willing lay down their life and do the works of the Father? No. So, why do we worship Jesus?

The answer is because of who Jesus is – not just because of the acts of the Father that Jesus does  but because of what Jesus' actions reveal about who Jesus is. Jesus says “I and the Father are one.”

And because that is true, that is why we worship Jesus because Jesus is God. Just as the Father is God. It is so easy to forget, to overlook, why we gather to worship and become distracted by questions of how and what. What kind of music, how long or short a service of worship should be. And most of the times those distractions take our focus away from where it ought to be—on Jesus. The purpose of All Saints is not to just exist but to exist for a purpose and our purpose is to worship our King and God: Jesus.  When we worship Jesus through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, we glorify the Father and we reveal ourselves as grateful for the salvation that He has poured out for us through his Son, the Christ. And so we worship; we worship because our salvation belongs to Jesus, we worship because we have been bought with a terrible price by Jesus, we worship because we are called to bear the fruit of a worshiping heart, to die to self and turn to Christ in worship. This is the call of God for His people and so we worship Jesus.
